Welcome to the Class Blog

This is the class blog for David Owen’s group studying Nineteenth-Century North-American Literature in the 2013-14 academic year, a one-semester subject within the Degree in English Studies at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

If you are reading this on a tablet or smartphone, for better accessibility you might want to consult the site via a WordPress mobile app.

This blog will be used instead of Campus Virtual, and will contain comments on aspects of our sessions throughout the semester. The primary intention of this blog is not simply to repeat class content (though early sessions may well be summarised to facilitate your adaptation to the subject), but rather to give a different perspective on questions that arise in class and for which we otherwise would not have enough time to consider more fully. The blog will also post information on class and classroom changes (if there are any), and on examinations and tests.

All new content will be published on the Posts page.

Please consult the About & Admin page to find a downloadable file with the course programme, as well as other related administrative information and useful internet links.

You will find downloadable versions of some of the texts for this course within the “Selected Bibliographical Material” section in Links.

If you want to arrange a tutorial with me, please go to the online application that you’ll find in the Contact Me page.

Finally, two things:

1. Please note that you can subscribe to this blog (via e-mail) by clicking on the “follow” link at the bottom of this site.

2. All posted content is copyright protected. As you will see in the Copyright page, you can freely cite from it, but must always indicate the source.
